The RSP2 supports the high system availability (HSA) feature, which allows two RSP2s, or an RSP4/4+ and an RSP2, to be used in a Cisco 7507 and Cisco 7513 routers.

The RSP2 also supports high availability (HA), a series of features that operates similarly to HSA, but which further minimizes system downtime. (HSA is the system default.)
With HA or HSA enabled, the RSP2 supports online insertion and removal (OIR).
